CTET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility for CTET is divided based on the level of teaching:

  • Primary Level (Classes I-V): Requires minimum qualifications such as Senior Secondary with a Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • Elementary Level (Classes VI-VIII): A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent is typically required.

The eligibility criteria for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) are as follows:

  1. Nationality: You must be a citizen of India1.
  2. Age Limit: Candidates wishing to apply must be of minimum 17 years and there is no maximum age limit for CTET Exam2.
  3. Educational Qualification: The persons possessing minimum qualifications for the teaching staff in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education (Determination of Minimum Qualifications for Persons to be recruited as Education Teachers and Physical Education Teachers in Pre-Primary, Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary, Senior Secondary or Intermediate Schools or Colleges) Regulations as amended and notified from time to time are eligible for appearing in the CTET3.
  4. Number of Attempts: There is no limit on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate2.
  5. Additional Criteria: According to the revised CBSE CTET Eligibility Criteria, aspirants who have completed post-graduation (in any discipline) with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade along with a 3-year integrated B.Ed – M.Ed can appear for CTET Exam Paper 1 and Paper 2.
